Welcome to the Forum, Dr. Malik!

It looks like a desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii), however if you're not in the western U.S. it's probably not. Can you give us more pictures of the animal? Straight down, front and underside.

May I ask why the leopard tortoise has the red/orange thing on it's back?

The orange/red thing on the back is from a 3-d printer. If my two brain cells are relaying the proper information between them, it seems to me it was felt to be needed due in part to exposed carapace bone.

Oh, ok...thanks Ken. So then I'm guessing that Dr. Malik was using a picture off the web for his question. In this case, yes, it is a desert tortoise. The tortoise is not supposed to be bumpy as shown in the picture. He should be smooth. This is called pyramiding, and is caused by raising a baby tortoise in the house under very dry conditions.

The one on the top left looks like a marginated tortoise. The one on the bottom left has severe pyramiding and doesn't look healthy, i don't know the species of the bottom left tortoise.

That's what I thought too, Gary. Top = Greek bottom = Russian
