Hi all!
I've noticed that sometimes Darwin (Greek) doesn't do anything in his soaks. He just sits there. I was wondering if this meant he just wasn't thirsty , or if he was absorbing water, or if this meant something bad was happening.
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

While most act like soaking is the worst thing in the world, scrambling to get out and such, some just chill, nothing really to worry about. The time to worry is when they ask to be taken, then you can worry, also call ripley"s. :)

It just means your tortoise is very relaxed and comfortable with the process. You might even go so far as to say hes's "relaxed".

If he puts his head down, look at his throat, moving means he's drinking. One of my torts simply poops and wants out...

When I don't let Bob out as soon as he thinks I should, he leaves poop in his water bowl. It's a non spillable dish in the corner. So he uses a big elephant front foot to drag it out of the corner, then he slings his butt over the dish and poops in it. I just always think that he's telling me simply what he thinks of me. I have another small tortoise and he does not drink when he's soaking, but he eats good enough to poop when he's soaking...I also think he's telling me what he thinks of the way he's living now, not that I'm insecure, you know?
