When reading through posts on here, everyone seems to have very active torts. However, mine isn't. Well, someways he's running around all over eating, drinking, exploring, then other days he's sleeping or just hiding in his hides or substrate. And doesn't eat a great deal. Any one have any suggestions? :/

We'll need much more information before we can even try to guess. Yes...we could go back and look at your previous posts, but it would be so much easier for you to just tell us all we need to know here on this thread.

What kind of tortoise? How big/old? Where does he live? What are his temperatures? What does he eat? well...you get the picture! :p

First thought is check his housing. Are temps where they should be all four of them (daytime high and low spots, and the same for night time)? Do you have the correct type of lighting?, bulb the correct distance from substrate?, lights on for the correct time?. Once your sure everything is correct within the enclosure, then come back and ask again if your still having problems.

Actually your description sounds pretty normal for a young tortoise.

My young leo appears healthy and is growing like a weed, but some days it will be in bed by 2 pm. Or eat and just lay around. Sounds about like me. :p

He's a western hermanns tortoise. I believe he is 1 year old, however his papers are in German and that's just going by the issue date. He's is approx 2 inches long, he lives in a 4x2 vivarium, he eats a mixture of spring mix, zoo med pellets, dried grass pre alpin mixture, red chard, spinach now and then, peppers now and then, occasionally mushrooms, cucumber, some fruit once a month, he's had pumpkin, turnip, spring green mix, beetroot, and many more things. His temps are around 100 basking, 86 warm area and around 78 cold side. Humidity gets up to between 70-100%

He has the UVB light on for around 12-14 hours a day. I always turn it on between 7-8 am, his UVB light is about half way up his viv, I have a CHE for heat. That stays on all the time as my house gets freezing on a night, however I do turn it down.
