I’m a little worried about my baby….he looks like he’s working to breathe a bit harder. Does anyone know if this is normal? If not, what can I do to help? Please no hate in the comments I’m a first time tort mom 😭

he looks like he’s breathing really heavy while he isn’t in motion his front legs are going in and out and he is like gulping his throat it’s puffing out
This sounds as though the tortoise is having difficulty breathing. It could be a sign of an upper respiratory infection or possibly pneumonia. Have you noticed any nasal discharge? Are you hearing any noises when it breathes?

No discharge, and no noises. I can hear an occasional puff of air when he’s in the bath but no wheezing or anything

Well, it sounds as though there is nothing wrong with the tortoise in that case.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Would it be possible for you to upload a video of what you are talking about?
When you mentioned the legs going in and out it made me think?
Something stuck in there?
Two things to have on hand for now…
1)- one of those baby nose sucker things (like they use in the hospital after a baby is born).
2)- your phone.

Next time he yawns try to take a picture of the inside of his mouth. Then you can look at it to make sure nothing is stuck in there.

These are all just suggestions.
Please don’t worry everyone on here wants to help you, I promise!

Darn….
What if you take a video and then attach it to the
“Attach files” button on the bottom left corner of this screen?
“Copy-paste” it?
