Thank you so much. I hear Gentian violet is a good all round cure. Does anyone else use this? It's probably nothing to be worried about. Looks like a bit of skin was pulled away. Hopefully, with no blood supply, it'll die and fall off. You can liken it to a hang nail.
If you're truly worried, seek a vet's advice.
Ok...thank you for this.Gentian violet is not a cure-all; it is an anti-fungal.
Your tort does not appear to have a fungal infection, and I would be extremely cautious about using g.v. near/around the eyes.
I wouldn't use it that close to the eye.Thank you so much. I hear Gentian violet is a good all round cure. Does anyone else use this?
Tortoises take roughly three to four times longer to heal than humans. Here is an example: when tortoises have invasive surgery requiring stitches, the stitches are left in for about three weeks or so. In humans, stitches placed at an incision site can be removed in 5-7 days.Thank you so much. I get the impression tortoises take their sweet time to heal...it's a pace-of-life thing...lol Yes, I'll keeps tabs on it.
