My year old cherryhead has been shaking his rear end around, almost looks like he’s dancing. Is this normal?

Sounds like he may be constipated. Do you soak? A long soak in warm water, just deep enough to cover his tail should help..

Sure he's not scratching? Does he do it against something?

This is what i was thinking, when you scratch the back of their shells most of the time they start to walk and wag around all funky. Try scratching the back of his shell and see if it makes him do it.

Yes....super fun, try to run your nails around the shell near the exit end of the tort...also, if you gently drizzle/lightly pour water on their shell they will dance.... :)
