Have a sexed pair of Hermann's torts and the female seems to burrow most of the day...I wake her up for feedings and she devours everything and is active for a bit (maybe 1-2 hours) and then she burrows again and occasionally roams around. The male is always on the move but only eats a little bit then goes back to roaming. I just doubled the size of he enclosure by connecting two large tubs and the male still will end up in a corner trying to climb up the wall.

I thought the female was hiding from the male and that's why I added the space.

Is this normal?

sounds pretty ok to me...they'll roam when they feel like it. Unless he's trying to escape the heat or something.

Male 4.5" female about 4".

Male may be attempting to mate the rather young female...he's of the size that is pretty much "driven"...

Might consider seperating them or getting a few more females (to lessen his attention on the one).
