Is this poison ivy?

We had friends over for coffee this morning and he told me this was poison ivy. I honestly don't know. I am not allergic to it or most other plants like it so it never really mattered to me. Kerry is though so I have to pay attention.


It's growing up this Hickory tree. Help! LOL

Could be a mature poisonivy. I honestly though it was a magnolia leaf until I read it growing up the hickory. Hopefully someone's got an answer for you.

The itchy chemical stays active even when you'd think it was seriously dead, so if you glove-up and cut or pull it/pick it up/touch it, don't get any on your skin from the gloves or your clothes. If you try to burn it like other slash, the smoke will carry some also. Burning = bad. Don't breathe the smoke or stand in it if you can help it. Best plan would be to use a shovel, carefully dig it out by the roots (minimize broken stems because that releases more of the itchy stuff), put it into a black plastic trash bag and tie the top shut tightly. Think hazmat. Any on your gloves will be transferred to the surface of the bag wherever you touch it so don't allow unsuspecting people to handle the bag with bare hands, and don't brush your hair out of your eyes with the gloves or an arm swipe. Wash hands with strong soap and/or alcohol. Wash clothes/gloves in hot soapy water.
