Is Tiny too TINY??????

Help? do you think my baby is under weight? I received him from a pet shop with several others in the same cage fighting for 1 piece of lettuce.
Any guess on age?

yup 36 grams. Found out it arrived at pet shop around 4-5 days ago. they aged it at about 2-3 weeks old they think.

This was taken at the store hours before we bought tiny. You can see tiny is the blonde/lighter one out of them all.

Could be a problem. First soak I gave him I thought he was going to drink the whole bath. Lets hope he improves if he is dehydrated.

Thanks for the comment Laura, are there signs that you see that make you say that or general judgement? I tend to think the same because with all the others it was tough getting proper food..etc...but then again the pet store only had him for 2-3 days. But then again 2-3 days for only being alive 15-18 or so days could do some damage. And transportation from breeder...ok...ok....i talked myself into why it could be hydrated...any signs lol. Rabbit pellets do not hold any water and is not good for and turtle/tortoise To walk on. I also do not see any sign of a water bowl.

Mine hatch at 35-40 grams. Unless tiny was a runt, this would indicate that he hasn't grown much.

Got a humid hide?
Warm temps 24/7?

First of all, throw a tape on him. He looks like a hatchling to me. Except stores shouldn't be selling under 4"! If he is a hatchling, you've got nothing to worry about. I would soak him (at least) twice a day...if not three...and if you are in a warm climate, then soak him in a kiddie pool under the sun! This is what I do and have gotten excellent results! It wouldn't hurt to offer him Mazuri as a diet staple (until he grows some)...difference here is that you would want the Mazuri to be soaked to the consistency of mush. Get him those nutrients and a little extra water. He should be maintained at temps of (at least) 80F...in his coolest spot. Just because it isn't 80 outside, doesn't mean it's not at least 80 or more in the hot spot of your yard. Get a temp gun and do spot checks to see the best place to put you're little guy. One to two hours of sun a day will do him a world of good!

I have a humid hide, and he has started sleeping in there himself!
cold side 80-85
hot spot 110
night time 80

I have a heat pad on bottom and cover on top to try to keep moisture in.

Yes the setup in the store was minimal for them. I did not see a water bowl either, but was told they were soaking them as well.

You got it! That weight was yesterday so I will update the weight in a week. I also picked up some turtle vit.a eye drops as I noticed one eye was slightly cloudy. After a day and a half I can see improvement in eye already. I will continue drops every day for a week, and then once a week after that.

Seems to just be picking out lettuce pieces out of mazuri mush as well so I will have to try a different route of blending it all together to make it all green so he thinks its all lettuce

Really excited for this little guy! I can't wait till next week when it warms up and we can go play in the sun!

So looks like I got him a little under age .

the pet shop did say they just got them in 2 days before I got him, so maybe they were planning on holding on to them a little longer. There wasn't even a price tag on the tank yet and most everything was marked. Anyways I am glad I could get him into his new home which is much better than where he was. Now he can eat and drink all he wants! (well within tortoise boundaries )
And his new home is MUCH more humid than where he was so I a hoping to see some positive results!

Read all the links at the bottom of Toms post and follow them as closly as you can! Hatchlings this young can be tough and unpredictable as far as health is concerned.

I have read all of toms threads and been reading everything. Anything new people have to read as far as hatchling care?

I have 1 question:
What can I get locally to start growing in his cage in some soil??? I live in SE Florida. I want a weed of some sort that is leafy green. He is only interested in lettuce right now and hard to get him to eat any mixtures. Some good leafy weeds growing right in his cage should be a good free-roaming-pick-and-eat natural setting.

Any advice? Thanks!

Dozer loves spring mix, clover, dandelion, finely chopped cactus. When he was tiny like yours, it didnt seem he was growing much. I started him on mazuri mixed with finely chopped fresh grass and sometimes pumpkin or squash, and he started to really gain the weight. He gets that 3 times a week.
