this is one of the things I found said about Jicama

"Jícama is high in carbohydrates in the form of dietary fiber. It is composed of 86-90% water; it contains only trace amounts of protein and lipids. Its sweet flavor comes from the oligofructose inulin (also called fructo-oligosaccharide) which is a prebiotic. Jicama is high in vitamins C, A and B, along with calcium and phosphorus."

so its high in water, low in protein, high in vitamins and calcium...but it's sweet...so is this something he could have a lot of? or every now and then?

Never heard of it (then again I am new to learning all this stuff). However would love to know that answer myself sounds like an interesting plant.

I have only had jimica a few times and it's not as sweet like fruits. I think it would be fine on occasion.

I would use it more as a treat than a staple.

I use jicama as an occasional treat for my desert torts, usually setting aside a piece or two when I've bought it as crudite for humans. It's got a lot of water, and they love a few bites on a hot afternoon.

Ive offered it many times. I will get some tortoises taking a few bites of it. Ive never seen it completely eaten before. But nothing wrong with it. As long it is not used as Yvonne said, a staple.
