I'm trying something different for hatchling labeling this year:
- a dot of white nail polish
- thin black sharpie number on the dot
- dot of clear topcoat nail polish over the number

It looks much neater than color dots, easier to keep track in my tortoise ledger, and should be durable. I may make a 2nd dot with 1st initial of the mother, or I may put the number dot on a different scute for each mother.
How do you label your hatchlings? I have tried different nail polish color dots (works fine), and sharpie paint pens (some colors fade to white in UV). Acrylic paint rubs off. Sharpie rubs off. Grease pen rubs off.
