Latching tote night hide

My Hermanns start inside at night and in winter. But I was wondering if it’s possible to make a night hide out of a latching plastic tote? When the weather is nice I sometimes hate digging them up to bring them inside but my enclosure is pretty secure for the day time but I worry about night predators That can chew and dig. Any advice? I don't have the skills or tools to make a wooden one. By the way, they do have plastic hides with open fronts and bottoms. Tia

A plastic tote hide that's not insulated and heated would be too cold on those cold winter nights
Also how many do you have? They should not be housed in pairs.
Tortoises should always be locked up at night.

As I said, only for warm spring and summer nights. I have two. They are housed separately each having their own inside and outside enclosure.

Not the way it reads, but okay.
Yes, as long as you can make it secure, locking/shutting them in each night if they don't go in on their own. Also making it secure so a raccoon or whatever kind of destructive wildlife you have in your area can't move the box all around or open it.
