I just wanted to run my temps by u guys to make sure they are correct. The hot side is reading 94-96,warm area is reading 83-87 and cool side is reading 76-80. Not sure on night time temps yet as this is my first night with him. will be checking them to make sure he doesn't get to cold. I just want to check and see if 76 is to cold if that is ok I only get that reading in the farthest corner of the temporary enclosure.

What is your humidity? If you're maintaining over 70%, I would try to get that 76 up to 80 and make sure minimum night temp is 80 as well. Your basking area could be a bit warmer too. 95-100 is ideal.

76 is "okay" but I like to keep it at 80 degrees at the lowest just to be safe. There is no such thing as a hot side but since im assuming that by hot side you mean basking temp, it should be closer to 105.

I never let my young tortoise, I have a sulcata, get under 85-90 even on the cool side. The Sulcata and leopard species are kept similar. Even my sulcata at 3 years of age and 22 pounds, I don't let it get below 80-85. As they get older and bigger, it's easier to retain heat.b

78 will work, but don't let it go any lower.

How are you maintaining that temp? What equipment?

I used a heat mat on top of the cage the cage for now is a tote that is like six inches deep dimensions are 24x30 but will be building him a bigger home when I get a chance. I am looking at a che thinking about getting one of them. checked temps with my temp gun and thermometer that I have in there.

A heat mat on top? That doesn't sound safe or effective. A tote? Like with an open top?

A pic of the enclosure would help to get you some better advice.
