Hi!

I just got my baby leo a few days ago. So far I’ve given him some shredded carrots with multivitamins or romaine lettuce.

I’m also planning to give him cuttlebone for calcium. Since he’s a baby should I shave the dust onto his food or just give the cuttlebone to him like it is?

I’m wondering if this is okay or good enough?
I was also going to buy mazuri but I heard that those aren’t that good to them too... correct me if I’m wrong

What are other good recipes or foods I can feed him. (And I can’t access collard greens and dandelions...)

Thanks!
Maddie

Mazuri is fine to feed. Romaine should be a small addition to a much bigger variety. Carrot shouldn't be fed daily either. Dust the calcium or cuttle onto the food, just a pinch 2 times a week. The diet is more of a problem right now and needs much improving.

Why can't you get collard greens or dandelion?

Your tortoise should be eating a wide variety of the right types of weeds, leaves, flowers and succulents. Grocery store foods are not a good way to go, unless you have no other choice, and even then you still need to take steps to improve the quality of the lettuce.

There is a lot of wrong information circulating around out in the world on the care of this species. Give these a read through:

You should be able to find all sorts of dark, leafy greens in Hong Kong. Quite a few of the Asian greens are good tortoise food. You can also do a Google search for "edible weeds" and see if you can find any of that sort of thing growing where you live.
