I've been doing this with my boxie's for thirty years Tom, and with Pio and Solo since they were both hatchlings, with great results. Nothing new here for me..........

Can you post more photos of your habitat? I am in love with it and am thinking of borrowing some ideas for my future red footed indoor home. Thank you!

@kaleli01 I'm looking to borrow (or really steal ) ideas for closed habitats that mimic real ecosystems for a cherryhead(s). Do you have a closed habitat? If so- please send photos! I have an 8'L x 3'W area to build indoors (will have an outdoor area too). Thanks! And cute tort btw!

@kalei01 did you use plexiglass on the sides? What are you using for the top? I'm starting with a 40g tank but getting ideas for a permanent one that I'm building this summer. It will be 8 x 3 as well.

I bought a 150 gal tank on Craigs list. Lots of people don't like tanks, so I guess it's just a matter of opinion. Some say it's because you can't regulate the temperature or humidity. You need a cool side and a hot side. Two heat emitters keep the temperatures in the low 80's. Plants and misting keep the humidity good. I mostly keep the hides warm and moist. That was my main concern. Mine are just for the Winter months and they would be outside for the whole Summer. Nothing is written in stone.......just how I do it.

I would get a large plant saucer for a water dish. The one you have seems to have high edges. You can put the water dish on the grass section so it stays cleaner. A large piece of slate is good for feeding. Throw in some spring mix seeds. Plants keep in the humidity and it will give them something to nibble on. I would also put some plants in there and some leaf litter for them to dig into. You can also throw in some worms in the leaf litter so they can dig for them. Mist the enclosure daly for some warm humidity.

Ooopps....I was thinking you had a box turtle. Well, that's how I kept my Cherries too. The same way I kept my box turtles. It's 2AM, I guess it's time for bed. Lol
