Map turtles

Can map turtles lay their eggs on a basking platform without dirt or do I need to have dirt in the tank?

I am not 100% positive, but I think they all need to have a dirt/grass dig in area.

They need a nesting area with at least 6" of earth (preferly more). Any eggs laid on surface I question viabiltliy of.

I have a floating dock that is made of plastic. And it's a 20 gallon tank for 1 inch map turtles. I have 2 of them. I don't know where to put a dirt area

I won't worry about 1" map turtles laying but they will need much larger habitat. Females hit up to 10" and males 5".

Well I was thinking of buying one of those giant 50 gallon heavy duty totes when they grow out of their tank. So I can save up for a 100 gallon tank for them.
