My male redfoot was just biting at my female redfoots head... I seperated them. Is this a sign of mating? Cannibalism? Ive caught him doing it before too!
From what I've read they make a head bobbing gesture and if the other redfoot responds in kind, then it is a male and the duke it out for any females around. If they don't bob their head in response, then it is a girl and the male redfoot will begin to bite at her feet and legs. I'm not sure about heads, but it could be possible. Hope that helps.
I think I've answered this question before...but maybe it was someone else's thread:
In order for the male to subdue the female and make her stand still and accept his advances, he bites her, rams her and just obnoxiously intimidates her.
