Hi I've been raising red ear sliders on and off for ten years now. Well the one i have now is about 15 months old. When he is inside the water he is soooo sweet. He does a lot of begging to get out. When he is out, the other half of his split personality comes out. He hisses, jumps and sometimes snaps. I feel like he is only being nice to get out. Funny though, he is my favorite RES ever!!!!

Sounds aok to me...the two ladies here present the synchronized swim team whenever I get close to their tank and then when I remove them to do a full water change their little mouths prop open ready for anything that dares to come in contact with their mouth...lol

While most RES are usually very gentle around humans I also have one or two who seems to be part snapper.
