Last weekend the MEPs discovered a new treat (actually one sprouted in the CA Woods enclosure and she devoured it)

Of course there also the old, familiar plantain/dandalion salad.

Larry my redfoots like mushrooms real well too. Great looking pics!

I had an opportunity to get a few of their 'cousins' but just don't have the space when they grow-up.. especially if I live to be as old as some of those on the left coast.. [ not mentioning any names.. but she keeps MEPS also :p ]

The RFs had the lions share of these and they didn't last long.

Did your Homes like them? Most Homes do, but my first trio nobody will eat any type they get offered. The Bells love them, too.

The Homes loved them too. I'll have to id the mushroom though I don't know if they'll come back (mushrooms have such particular requirements) though they did leave spores. The only turtle/tort that didn't show interest was the Malayan Box and didn't try with spotted.

Is it safe to feed them wild mushrooms from outside? (As long as no pesticides are being used?)

Not unless you are positive they are eatable. As I said one sprouted in the enclosure with my Central American woodturtle and she devoured it with no ill effect, so I harvested them and offered them to rest of torts/turtles. I have found that RFs, MEPs, and woodturtles if well fed will ignore plants bad for them. I have a problem with nightshade in yard and have found that they all ignore it, not even a nibble (hopefully it's gone next year due to vigorous chopping on my part).
