I have recently added mushrooms to the diet of my torts (RFs, Burmese mtn, and Home's hingeback) and bluetongues. They all love them. What I am wondering is what is the nutriative value of these ?
They are a good source of fiber for tortoises that do not recieve fiber through grasses or weeds, etc. They are also an excellent source of digestible energy. Here are some links that may help.
These articles are great. I assume that this also would hold true for other forest type tortoises as I would assume fungi is common in this type habitat.
Yes, as far as I know, and for Boxies too. cdmay put me on to Hailey, and he has been an EXCELLENT resource so far! Not too many have observed any forest torts in their natural habitat.
