Mushrooms

I have mushrooms growing in the enclosure ... Do I need to be concerned ? I use coco coir , little bit of aspen chips and little pile of grass hay .

Mushrooms grow on rotting material. So you either have some rotten substrate in the spot, or there is rotting food in that spot. I would just scoop out a handful of substrate there and toss it. When you have rotting food it draws those pesky tiny grey mites. Once you have them, even though they aren't harmful, they reproduce like crazy and are all over everything.

Some mushrooms are EXTREMELY toxic. Deadly toxic. They are sometimes very difficult to ID even for people who study them. In a captive environment, some tortoises will try to eat them some of the time, so the safe bet is to remove them and not give the tortoise any access to them.

I remove them as soon as I see them!! I remembered reading they can be deadly. I also removed the coco coir where one was growing. Still learning...added fresh substrate and some freshly sprouted wheat berries she keeps looking at the new green grass but has not touch it yet.
