So tonight I went in to pick up a few things and see this. I was shocked to say the least. They want 600 for this sulcata and 250 for the Red foot. They have them both in this little 4x4 tank.
I sure did but I think it fell on deaf ears. I voiced my disapproval to several of them. My daughter works there on a volunteer basis and She couldn't believe it either. She wants to work this weekend to help educate them, will see how that goes. I doubt they listen to a 12 year old.
Well, the tortoises are not getting good, even decent, care now, but the RF was loved at some point in time, because he's actually pretty smooth, from what I can see!
600$ Yikes. I hope whoever pays that much will give them very good care!

I'm surprised at how smooth the red is! I'm really surprised by those prices though!! and I spent $80 (would have been 100 without rewards points) for my Russian.
$250 for a Red Foot is super cheap around here. Hatchlings go for a minimum of $400 usually, and adults are usually around $1000 or more.
I am quite jealous how cheap you guys in The States get your Tortoises, ha.
But yes, this pet store doesn't seem to know what they're doing...
I stopped going to my local reptile store when I went in one day to see that the Russian tortoises were being housed with baby bearded dragons that were crawling all over them. Do all my reptile supply shopping online now
