I'd be interested in this. I have a gold fish in my front pond that has a very similar 'egglike' structure along the base of its dorsal fin. It is pale yellow in color. I wondered what it was too. I've had the fish in that pond since it was tiny. I don't even know when it first appeared. It looks like a fatty tumor. This little one was hatched with growth on its back...
It's so odd , almost like a eggs sack..Any thoughts??
Sorry it had to be that way. Sure wouldn't want the poor little thing to suffer.euthanized it is. Thanks
Is it possible for a turtle to have spina bifida? I think what you are describing is along the lines of a condition called Gastroschisis? What ever it is....poor thing.I think it's the membrane encasing all the innards. There's a rupture in the shell and the membrane is bulging out. It also looks like there's quite a bit of swelling at the front of his body. I think the kindest thing for this tortoise would be humane euthanasia.
Perhaps a spina bifida/meningocele/myelomeningocele = spina bifida cystic? Can the baby ambulate? This little one was hatched with growth on its back...
