hi, ok i have a tortoise arriving in july most of my garden is prepared so she can't escape but after looking at some pics on here i've realised my garden is maybe a bit baron and boring, its really mainly just lawn! I've already purchased some weed and clover seeds and was planning on half digging in some pots and sinking a very shallow pool/ drinking area but i really wanted to add some evergreen shrubs/bushes just to make it all a bit more interesting and to add some cover.
So i suppose my question is which sort of shrub/bushes are safe 4 my new little lady and prefferably evergreen and pretty hardy.
By the way she is 50 odd years and im in devon in uk!

Hebe is your best bet for a shrub for your enclosure as they are edible. :)

Welcome to the forum! Are you willing to let some of it go to the weeds for her? I'd scatter seeds for weeds and greens so she can graze. We also need to know what species. Many torts don't like grass, but will graze on weeds and broad leaves. Is she going to be outside full time? Do a forum search for safe plants and you will find all sorts of links to sites which list hundreds of things you can buy. I would buy and plant them nos as they really should sit 3-6 months before the tort eats them. Your yard should also be chemical-free (no pesticides or fertilizers).

Spur thigh as in Greek tortoise?

If you can go over and snap some pictures, that would be great. We need a top and bottom view ;)
