I am getting my baby dalmatian hermann tomorrow,
Here is a few pics of his set up, I am using coconut fiber for substrate,
His basking platform is ramped for higher temps, i lined the edges with rocks to protect him from going to the edge.
I am using the 40 gal critter cage for now until he grows ;)

Let me know what you think and of course i will post pictures of him when he arrives tomorrow morning :D
Cant wait!!:tort:

One thing you should be aware of is that metal screen with mesh that fine severely degrades the UV passing through it. If you can go without the screen or replace it with one that has a wider mesh, it would be much better.

I am going to put the UVB along the front edge and slide the screen back a decent amount so it won't interfere with the light :)

I would add a CHE for night time heat and maybe sink the dishes a little so they are easier to climb in. good luck, very exciting for you.:D

Looks good. Make sure that the water dish is no where near the ledge should he gracefully fall off and be upside down in it. If your house is down to normal room temp, I would not add night time heat. They are meant to cool off at night. He is used to it about 70F but could go a little lower too. Make sure you supplement with Calcium that has D3 and your UV plan will be just fine.

I checked the nighttime temp last night, it was at 71 degrees and that's how the room normally is,
I will bury the dishes a tiny bit, I never thought of that :)
And the water dish is actually not that deep, just deep enough to get a drink from :)

Your night time temp will be just fine. Good job, he will settle in just fine. They are very outgoing. The little one was sleeping when I packed him up. He will be rearing to go in the morning.
