This is (starting at midnight and going clockwise) Phae (50lbs), Darth (55lbs), Medea (65lbs). Enjoying the sun in their new rain forest annex. Most of the ground cover is eaten down to the roots, but there's still a bit of Gazania and Shepherd's purse left.

This is VicMorgan (45lbs) coming back home from the annex:

A shot of the original rain forest:

This is one of the intergrades. They weigh about 20lbs now, maybe a bit less:

(I accidentally hit "send" instead of "back")

This is a shot of the intergrades' portion of the rain forest. They're not on it yet because I'm letting it grow:

I did a GOOGLE search for clover seed and found a site that had Dixie Crimson Clover, Medium Red clover and Patriot White Clover for a pretty good price. All three in the same bag. When it arrived I see its from a company that sells seeds for Wildlife (Rackmaster). The only thing is, the little plantlets don't look at all like clover to me. But hopefully the tortoises can eat it!

Wow, you really have been giving your camera a workout! Thanks! It's fun to see the private EmysEmys Tortoise Sanctuary and Chelonian Hotel.

Your cinderblock plant protector gave me a good laugh on this batch!

Yeah, that's a young banana tree. If I don't protect it the tortoises will eat it, leaves, stems and roots!

What great pics Thank you so much for sharing. What do the plants that are suppose to be clover look like?

Its dark outside now, but tomorrow I'll see if I can bet a close up shot of it for you. It sorta' looks like long-stemmed dichondra.

Well, upon closer inspection this a.m. in the light of day, after the initial two-leaf stage, the next leaf has come out in the typical three leaf clover pattern. I took two pictures, and personally, I don't see that the close-up setting makes any difference. This first picture is on the close-up setting and the second picture of the same area, only on automatic:

You have been busy this summer. Such fun to watch them get to go into a new area (or an old area reopened up). :D

Those pictures were so great, and I agree about the camera. I don't even bother about changing the settings, most of the time. Oops...I hope Terry doesn't see this...

I LOVE to give "The Tour!"

(What fooled me about the clover is the fact that the stems are so long. Instead of staying close to the ground, the first stage, the two-leaf stage, is on stems about 4" tall.)

I figure the long stems are clover's way of getting tail enough to get to the sunlight since they are normally fighting against other grasses which tower over them, not to mention competition with the other sprouting seeds.
