Hello everyone, I rescued another red foot tortoise. It has been in tough care and a lady ended up rescuing her. She then got it dewormed and got her eating a little. She hit a wall and decided to give her up. I picked her up yesterday. She's actually lives in the same city as me so it was easy. She said scarlett (the tortoise) hasn't ate in weeks, hasn't been moving much and skinny. When I saw her for the first time she was very light and hallow feeling. She seemed like she been cold for awhile as well. I set her up in a indoor enclosure and plan to keep her warm. Few hours of being inside the enclosure she started walking around and being active. Today was rather nice so she got to go in the yard and get sun. Soon as I out her down she started eating weeds and walking around grazing. She put on noticeable weight today and she's very active and fast. I plan to keep her warm and get her back up to weight but I think over all she's a healthy little tortoise. She's 6 inches and pyramiding but with some love she will be a good tort.

Here is the questions? What type of red foot do you think she is? I know there are a few different kinds. I'm guessing she's a girl can anyone confirm?

Good to see she's with you now, Kyle! When it comes to reds and locale, seems like it's impossible to know (even more impossible than gender id'ing). She looks like a definite Northern, but even I have a northern mixed with cherry (pretty sure) that has a fully yellow plastron. Congrats and spoil that little one rotten :D

I just LOVE Redfoots!!!!! When I bought my second redfoot she was just like yours, very light & hallow. It took her a long time to put weight on. But she's thriving now. I bought her in July '09. She's my sophisticated girl. She's a light eater & barely ever has a messy face! Congrats to your new tortoise, their special :)

She looks so happy grazing!!! You should send the last owner a video and show her how well she is doing! I bet she would love that.
I have two reds too. They are full of personality but then again I don't have anything to compare it too.
