CONGRATS! Is he/she out yet?

Not yet as of 7pm tonight. Looks like he's trying to throw a leg out. Everyone with hatching experience tells me to leave him alone. Its so hard. I don't want to do the wrong thing.

How long does it take a baby tortoise to hatch out of its egg, anyway?

I don't know yet. I'm told it can take a day or two. I'll be checking first thing in the morning.

Mister man is still in his shell, but he has done a 360 and broken it all open. #2 (the dimpled one) has now made his entry into the world. We'll see if he does his 360 tomorrow. #3 is taking his sweet time and has not pipped yet.

The best!

These guys aren't going to be part of your pyramiding research, right? (Because those were all supposed to be related?) How are you going to raise them?
Are there only 3 for now?

Also, congratulations again!

I'm pretty sure only 3 are fertile. I'm thinking I'll just raise these three completely identical to the way I've raised my others with the exception of humidity. I think I'll save some of the other variables for my next batch.

Regardless of the scientific validity, or lack thereof, if these grow up smooth, the questions will be answered for me. Words will not be able to describe the elation I will feel if my borrowed/stolen theories are correct.

Either way, to get to raise the babies of my babies is just amazing. This whole thing has just been magical for me. Seeing that little tortoise face peering out of the egg at me was one of the greatest thrills I've ever experienced.

Congrats!!
I see there is plenty of yolk left, so be patient for them to absorb it.

This is my favorite thread of all time :) Do you have names picked out? Or more pictures, perhaps? :)

More pics will come. No names yet. I was thinking Dimple for the one. Maybe I'll let Ava name them.

Mr. Man is out! Dimple is still relaxing in his egg. No sign of #3 yet. Without further adieu... meet Mr. Man!

Already, he acts just like Scooter did. It was like going back in time. I hand picked Scooter out of a bin with dozens of hatchlings because of his amazing, stand out from the crowd, personality. This one acts just like him! As soon as I set him down, he was on a mission to get some where. He was walking straight at the camera and shows no fear or timidity whatsoever.

Great photos... Hang on to these pics - they're fun to look back at in 5 years and see what it's become!

That's just another neat aspect of this forum. Even if my whole house and everything in burned to the ground, I'd still be able to get my old pics.

He's so perfect!
And is it just me, or is he still sort of shaped like an egg? Does that happen?

All of those pics were taken within seconds or minutes of removing him from the incubation chamber.
