How do you differentiate between the two sexes?
We look at the plastron and tail.

A female has a flat plastron and shorter fatter tail.

The male has a concave plastron (so he doesn't fall off when mating) and a longer tail (so he can reach round when mating)

All tortoises look female until they're nearing maturity - which is judged by size not age - but yours is plenty big enough to sex :)

Here's Joe (a different type of Greek) so you can see a male for comparison

Wow,Thank you for all your replies! So Fred is a Fredwina! ;) She loves in an enclosed garden with lots plants, the old owners used to feed her Romaine lettuce and tomato and a few flowers but i have read that should be in moderation only. We have two hibiscus plants which are flowering at the moment so she has been having them with jasmine flowers. She does seem to have a very good appetite!
Fredeina it is. Frederica is a girls name, so Fred is still OK :D

We have a few misnamed torts on here as they're impossible to sex when they're small and a name sticks. There's a male Sulcata who will end ip at 100lb+ called Lola :D

Your tort's diet is basically leafy greens - grazed weeds from your garden are perfect. She can't digest sugars properly- they cause kidney problems - so fruit, tomato, bell pepper and carrot should only be fed very occasionally.

She needs free access to water. Terracotta plant saucers sunk down so they're level with the ground are perfect.
