#6: Very tough grass, grows in tufts, difficult to pull out, grows through runners



#7: Tall, maybe 3 feet




#8: Another tall grower, same height, maybe just an upright version of #1?

Ha that's alright Tom.

Poppies and carrots are closely related. If you pull a mature poppy out of the ground, you'll find roots that look like a skinny carrot. I can't remember if I spread any seed last year. I guess I'll have to wait until summer.

#1 looks like my Goldenrod. If it's that, it'll grow up to about 4ft tall and put out yellow flowers on top of each stem

Not vinca. No purple flowers later in the year. This one also has a rounder leaf.

I would still keep it out of the tort enclosure. I am not plant expert, just enjoy gardening and have seen more than 1 type of vinca ground cover being sold in nurseries. I'd be cautious at least until proven wrong

Thanks. These actually aren't in tortoise enclosures. Just curious about what I have on the property. I wish it were vinca. So pretty when it flowers. I've planted a couple of varieties here on slopes to prevent mudslides.

Nut grass looks like a great guess. I thought I was pushing my luck with that one. I'll have to look out for the seed heads later in the year.
