Not Eating

I want to say for 4 days now my 2 adult pancakes have not eaten. I suspect it is because they are cold in their hide. Their full spectrum bulb is on, but both refuse to wake up and go out and sit under it, if I put them under the lamp, they will sun themselves, but not eat, and then just go back into their cold hide. Nights here are not yet cold enough for a ceramic heat lamp. So what is ping on with them, an ideas on how to block the entrance to their hide will also be nice, they are both in a zoomed tort palace, the big black table with a glass viewing front.

Sounds like you need to warm up the hide areas....you can use a ceramic heat emitter or you can use heating cables or you can use a heating pad....but I believe they are telling you they need heat---torts remind me of an old 67 Ford Mustang....they need warming up or they are not going anywhere....offer them warmth in their hide/rock area...they are not warm enough to get up and moving...

Not sure how I can heat that area up, the zoo med table have a little side area, that does have a lifting lid for the hide part, but no way if propping it up, I was thinking of cutting that area off and just putting some half logs in the main area for them to hide in instead. If they wanted to be warm it does not explain why they do not come out to warm up under their lamp.

Also like I said it is not getting below the mid 60s here at night, that is why I am confused and concerned for them..

The only thing that comes to mind is....if they are chilled they may lack desire or umph to move about....and if this is the case then their appetite will not be present either.....

I wonder if you use a black heat bulb and place it somewhat over the place they are stationary in and let it warm up to around 80 degrees...then see what they do, I mean--if they then seek out a different place in the enclosure that is again cool then you know they are purposely seeking out the cool spots....I would just see what happens....I mean, that is just I would do :D

Warmth and proper temps play such a huge role...

Luckily they ate the other day, but it has gotten cold enough for heat lamps at night. I am going to cut the cold area off and just keep them in the main part, the coolest side is 70 something.
