Hi I just got in a female rescue Herman’s tortoise. I saw pictures of her before I got her and I still don’t mind how she looks as long as she is healthy which so far she is. My question is do other here’s have Herman’s with this circular shape shell? She very active and started chasing me which makes me second think could she be a really dominant female or potentially a male but she appears physically to be a female. Also do she look like a western or eastern hermans? The place I adopted her from didn’t say. Thanks

Bless her, looks like she didn’t have the best start, she’s got some intense pyramiding, but then growth began to smooth out, don’t suppose you could upload a photo of her entire side profile?
Feel free to add pics of her tail too for input on her sex, I’m curious myself.

Is that a small sulcata near her? I wouldn’t let them interact/be in the same enclosure, and I’d be very careful about cross contamination with any new tortoise.

She looks like an eastern herman to me, but don’t quote me on that lol, IDing subspecies isn’t my forte🐢💚

thanks for replying and yea she definitely has pyramiding. And yes that is a baby sulcata. I rescued a few tortoises over the weekend from the same place but I have them in their own quarantine setup by species.
