I have been thinking about building a simple tortoise run, much like the one in the image. I would use 1/4" mesh wire to keep the predators out.

I would add a hide for shade and a water dish.

The idea is I want to be able to take my leopard babies out and sun them during the day without having to stand guard and make sure none run off.

The weather is beautiful here in San Diego and I have a good sized lawn front and back (100% organic and untreated)

I know babies are supposed to be indoors for the first two years, but it would be a shame to not use all that natural sunlight.

Have others tried similar methods?

They can go out daily or on nice warm days. However, they shouldn't be out all day if they are very young. 1/2 hour to an hour unless you can get some high humidity in there.
