Hi!
I know it's an old thread but I'm worried about my 3 yr old 16 lb Sulcata.
She's been living outside full time this summer and has made quite the burrow.
The temps are quickly dropping into the 40s at night here in VA and she's seems happy in her hole. I have a dog house with bedding and a heat lamp right outside her burrow- but she doesn't seem interested.
(Still eating well and everything)
She's not gonna freeze being underground in the 40s will she?

No, she won't "freeze" but she may get vey sick. You need to provide 80 degree temperature for the tortoise all the time. You have to physically put her into a heated shelter and fill in the burrow.

Absolutely what Yvonne said.
Also, a dog house is not a good enough hide, it's for dogs not tortoises.
You need to give the tortoise either a heated shed or a heated night box like Tom has info on in his thread he made about night boxes.
