Still waiting. No real change since yesterday. Ugh, we are so excited to see the new hatchling. Sheesh, how long can it take? Oh well, it has been over 4 months, what is a few more days.

Sad news. After waiting for the little guy to break out. We took the egg out today to find that it had died. We are devastated. Our oldest daughter was sobbing. We opened the shell to find a beautiful, fully developed baby. Now we are left speculating what happened. No changes were made in the incubator, temps, or humidity.
There sure seems to be a learning curve here. More than likely there was something wrong in the first place. But very disappointing after all this time and to think it made it that far in developement. :(
Another 6 weeks or so and we will hope for better results from her second egg.

Sometimes they simply get exhausted trying to free themselves from the egg. Its a fine line you have to walk as to knowing when to help them and when to leave them alone. If you help them too soon, they don't strengthen, but if you wait too long, they might become exhausted and die. Its a sad thing to have happen after waiting with such anticipation for so long. I'm sorry!

I'm sorry to hear the bad news :( Like Yvonne said some hatchlings make it and some don't. There are a few things you can do to help minimize the risk for a hatchling, but when your dealing with anything alive nothing is fool proof.
