These guys are growing like weeds and always put a smile on my face when I see them. The first one I think is a clear male, and he has looked like that since only a few months old. The rest look like females, and are much more rounder, whereas the male is very elongated. The male also has a much longer tail.

Are you up for some swapping in another couple of years? Its looking like I'm really male heavy here. At least 5 out of 9, maybe 7 of 9.

Possibly, it really just depends on how all of mine turn out. The sex ratio is looking really good for me right now but that can change really at any moment.

Thanks! They are a little over a year old now, and I got them from Tom who got them from a buddy. Where's pics of yours!?

Here are some pics of my crew. My EARLY EARLY guess for my crew would be 3 males 3 females, but I definitely have a ways to go before really knowing. I can't wait though! Lol

Very nice animals. They will make excellent breeding stock for you.

As an aside, I expect an explosion in Gpp production and availability in the coming few years due to the major increase in the number of folks (and I am looking at this with just the folks I know about; there should be even more) building breeding groups via growing out bulk-purchased hatchlings, which is among the easier methods to minimize per unit cost to build such colonies with significant production capacity. It will be interesting to follow the price response. Especially when a couple of folks advertising through the major channels decide to race to the bottom to move inventory they might not be prepared to hold. It will be nice for some to more easily afford them even though the price erosion could get a bit ugly.

Thanks, that is my hope.

I see that happening as well, it will be great for the consumer but not so much for the breeders or middle men. I could say the same thing for a few other species as well.

I wonder about this. My supplier has been producing 100s every year since the early 90s. Any idea why we don't already have a ton of them? Seems like the trend we are noticing right now should have happened long ago.

One big obstacle I anticipate is figuring out regional incubation "recipes". I know people who have had clutches, but are unable to get a live hatchling.

One way or another, I hope you are right. This is a really great species.

Did those spoken consider a dipose in incubation techniques?

I feel many have more or less a shelled kept interest of keepings in the hobby of tortoises.

I have thought the same thing as well, and I have always assumed it was due to exporting. I almost didn't get the group I have because they were going overseas with about 100 others...or so I was told.

These look great Elliot!

Hmmm... I'd consider the source from that one. Know how to tell if he's lying? His mouth is moving.

Our supplier has never mentioned anything about any of his going over seas. Certainly possible though.
