It just says, "Virgin Forest Wood." If it contains cedar or pine it shouldn't be used, but if it doesn't, it would be ok.

I think your Russian would be happier on coco coir. It comes in a brick that you place in water to re-hydrate. If you shop around you can get a three-brick package for cheap.

Can't see the ingredients or particle size. No way for us to know.

I use one called "Pathway Bark" from Lowes.

Thanks, that's the problem is all it says it's made from is virgin forest woods. Doesn't say ingredients or anything else, went to Home Depot and they had no idea either(didn't think they would) I'll check lowes for the bark though thanks for the idea

I'm building a 3 foot by 5 foot cage so I think I would need quite a few to get the good 6 or so inches I'm hoping to get for good burrowing. Any idea where you can buy it in bulk? I've tried looking all i find is 3 packs

I'm definitely open to good ideas for substrate, obviously I want the best no matter the price . Just hard to find a lot of stuff in western Michigan. Most stuff has pine or Cedar in it. Have searched for garden loam, orchid bark, coco coir no one sells around me Beside pet stores. Having them as a last resort

Home Depot is the only place for just cypress everywhere else it has pine or cedar mixed in with it

Try 'coco peat' in the search bar. There are great options for coir at the Home Depot, but I'd be careful about mulch that doesn't specify wood type. :(

While finishing off my new enclosure, I snagged a bag of cypress mulch from Home Depot. So far, our sully seems to like it. It looks and smells nice as well. Thats a good thing.

Heres a pix of what our HD has:

I don't know your entire house situation, but I bulked up my coir with just plain old dirt from our yard, we don't treat for bugs or weeds or anything so it was safe. It makes the coir dry out faster but my Russian has loved it.
