Hey so my tortoise doesn't like to eat her food when i powder it with the calcium supplement. so I bought the exo terra liquid calcium supplement to put in her water because she drinks a lot of water. is this an ok substitute? or should I still offer her dusted food.

You only need the calcium once or twice a week, and you only need a tiny pinch of it mixed in with the whole pile of greens and stuff.

I've never been a fan of the liquid stuff, but I've never seen it cause a problem.

Adding a cuttlebone to the enclosure, so the tort can self regulate, would be a good idea in addition to the above.

You might be putting to much. They won't eat it if they smell it or see it :p Clever guys! I have never had much luck getting my russian to naturally eat a cuttle bone, so he gets powder on his food once a week.

My Tortoise has never eaten her cuttlebone. But she will eat scraped cuttlebone when I put it on her favorite foods, like a cactus pad cut in half and then sprinkle it on the website, or on this plant here. I don't know the name but it is the number one favorite of my Tortoise :)ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1407026895.430286.jpg

That's a type of sedum, commonly known as Ice Plant: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hylotelephium_spectabile

My torts love it! They propagate very easily from any part of the plant and do well indoors during the winter, as long as you keep them warm, by the the sunniest window in the house.

Thank you, I always wondered what ice plant was in here I had about 1 million of them growing around my house :) my Tortoise loves this thing, she eats it quicker than anything else including cactus and Romain lettuce. Around here they grow pretty late into the fall which is nice I've never tried drawing one through the winter I figure she gets so much of it during the other months that she can live through winter without it. I would definitely recommend this plant to anybody who had tortoises because it is so easy to grow is extremely low maintenance and mine get up to 2 1/2 feet tall at least. And I definitely do not have a green thumb so if I can grow this plant anybody can.

Yes it is a sedum but I don't know what kind. So I guess Iceplant is not a sedum them. I told you I don't have a green thumb. Whatever it is it must be safe she is eaten it for a year and a half and she absolutely loves it.
