Pip's first worm

This is pip. He was our very first redfoot hatchling. He lives in a large vivarium in our living room. Today he discovered that there are worms living in the substrate. As soon as he saw it,he went straight for it,investigated for a moment,and quickly made a meal of it. Now he has become a wrecking machine,rooting through the moss and digging all over.

Do you breed the worms in their enclosure or just toss some in from time to time?

No,they just live in there.They feed on the little"compost pile" of veggie leftovers in his vivarium.They are breeding,as I see small ones sometimes when I water the substrate.They do a good job of breaking down the leftovers.An added benefit is,their castings are excellant for growing greens in.

Decomposers!! haha I taught my 4th grade class about that last month :)

Pip is a beautiful tortoise!

Wow, that's interesting. My boxies used to love earthworms, but my redfoot was frightened by them. Looks like your redfoot is quite the opposite.
