Hi all

Can anyone give me some advice on what to feed the plants with in an indoor enclosure. Taking into account the tortoise edible plants.

Thank you.

I didn't know either! My local nursery sells a big bag of them and I always wondered what people did with them!
Do you just add them in the hole when replanting or sprinkle at the base?

I like compost , it's free , and I feel in this day of " ID " steeling everybody should compost their junk mail , bills , and anything with their name on it .

Yes, you can also make a 'tea' and foliar feed (through leaves)

I've always been somewhat leery of using junk mail, or anything printed on computer paper in compost that was going to be used on plants meant for consumption. Do you have a worm bin as well or are you a "traditionalist"? ;)

I have 3 compost bins. One of them only has veggie peelings and grass cuttings in it. Would you say this is tort safe?

Should be fine. A lot of people do what Grandpa does. I don't have anything concrete to suggest there's a risk, just a feeling I have. Back when I first started doing worms, any type of regular paper was considered ok, just avoid glossy papers. I think I read that the toxic inks are actually more expensive to manufacture than the safer alternatives so it's unlikely that there'd be toxic inks used unless for a specific reason (fancy paper).
