I rescued 4 boxies today and i was told this was a coastal box turtle. His shell has been rubbed or something, it might not be the color it should be. He is also missing the toes/claws from his front left foot. I looked under him, and he has the hinge that box turtles have. TIA for any help you can give me.

He has 4 toes on the back and is about 7-8 inches.
My guess would be 3 toed/gulf coast integrade then. I have one myself. That's not to say it's impossible for it to be pure gulfies though. Just does not look so much like others I've known.

View attachment 163633 It looks a lot like my gulf box turtle from the front view. But mine might be a hybrid also, has three toes on the back legs
I love this picture! He's so cute. That's the most descriptive picture of a turtleneck I've ever seen. It really looks like he is wearing a sweater!

How were they rescued? Were they out in the cold when they should have been hibernating? Is it possible that it belongs to someone who kept them inside and they escaped?
