For the whole 6 wks that I've had my 3 yr old Hermann's her poop has been very soft- like really thick pea soup or thick baby food. I can only pick it up with a paper towel because it's not quite solid. I just assumed that was normal- is it?
If Hermanns are like sullies, it means that they may not be getting enough fiber in her diet or she may be getting a cold and has soft-runny stool. What has she been eating lately?
She has been eating like a little piggie from day one. Her basic diet while indoors for the winter is spring mix plus Repashy supplement. I always add other things to it: some dandelion leaves, dandelion flowers, broccoli leaves, collards or rose petals. ( all either from my yard so guaranteed no pesticides, or purchased organic). She also enjoys eating the Swedish ivy and spider plant that grow in her enclosure. I give her opuntia 3 times a week and either a peeled baby carrot or slice of zucchini about once a week.
How can I increase her fiber?
Feed cut grass that will firm it up.pluss that should be 70% of there diet anyway its full of filbert.u can get all kinds of good seed from home depot and plant in a long pot on a window sill.use organic soil and fertalize with fish emulsian all organic.torts love the new sprouts of grass pluss best food fir them.I also pulled some wild dandylion pluss clover and replanted inside.it grows well like aweed.clover is also great and full of Tiber it will stiffen it up.optuna is good also but grows to slow indoors I found a wild patch and use that.
Cut,fine grass is the best. U can buy orchard grass at the pet store and cut it small and mix it with mazuri. He'll love it and will get the fiber he needs. See how that works.
