Power Outage Backup Plan?

I just got notified i wont have power from 8am to 5pm tomorrow. I'm lucky i live in Los Angeles. It will be around 80 degrees tomorrow. Just curious what's your guys backup plan for outages? Do I need to get a portable generator?

Some people use heat packs in an emergency. I don't think you need to worry much in LA.
