Hi all!

Some questions...

I have my 2" er in a 20 gal long (I know, its too small, I'm building a larger, closed chamber over my Christmas break), but I'm still having some heating issues. My immediate next step is to tin foil the aquarium cover until I get the new one built. Under the basking lamp the warmest it gets is high 90s, and the coldest part of the enclosure is 70. I know its too cold. Right now I only have the basking lamp and a UVB bulb.

I'm looking into getting a CHE, but I'm at a complete loss as to what, specifically, to get. I've been searching amazon, but both reviews and prices are all over the map.

Also...confession... I have a CFL UVB bulb.. the breeder said they were fine... now my Sal has one eye that's bothering him... I've subsequently turned it off, but I'm also in need of a UVB bulb, and I'm having the same problems.

If anyone could link to some examples on Amazon so my head doesn't keep spinning, I would be eternally grateful!!

I use either one of these two:

mercury vapor bulb.jpg UVB light.jpg

With the one on the left you get heat and UVB in one bulb.

Honestly I've never really used uvb. Just have made sure to give them plenty of natural sun outside time.

It's free!

I bought a Che at homedepot way cheaper. Just don't get one that's branded specifically for reptiles or extra $$
