Only if it is accompanied by metabolic bone disease. Normally it is only cosmetic. Just be sure the tortoise eats calcium-rich foods and has plenty of sun shine.
Redfooted tortoises require a more moist environment than other types of tortoise. Pyramiding and dry habitat go hand in hand. You usually see pyramiding during the first year of a tortoise's life...that's when the humid environment is most important. But you need to find a happy medium between too wet and just wet enough, in order for your redfooted tortoise to be happy and healthy.
