quarantine period

So the quarantine period is basically done just to prevent the spread of disease? I apologize but i'm confused!!!....

Yes I do one from 3 to 6 months depending on what type it is and who I got it from. It makes me feel better doing it.

No, not completely. Partially it is to help prevent a new tortoise from spreading a disease to your established animals. However, another big part of it to me, is to allow you time to observe the new animal. For the human caretaker, it's much easier to make sure a new animal is eating well, acting correctly, getting to know it's individual quirks during the quarantine period. While for the new animal, this isolation time is letting it settle in to your routines and it's new life, while getting over the stress it came with. That way, I believe your both much better armed to handle the changes in dynamics when you add this new tortoise into the group and for the new animal to have the capacity to handle the new stress it will be under once added to the establish group.

Yes and I would do it for 2-6 months to be safe from all the diseases and so forth
