question about class III ESC permit.

Sup guys, I am applying a Florida wild life Class III permit to sell my Captive bred India star tortoise, now there is section want me to put Veterinarian Information, but I never have one, so what should I do? can I put some reptile Vet near my house that I would go to if anything happen? Thanks guy.

I just looked it up, and it talks about 'wildlife'. A captive bred tortoise.isn't wildlife in my way of thinking.

I think you should be able to just put a vet close to you; there really wasn't any language that said it had to be YOUR vet or that you had gone to them before. Maybe just make sure they treat reptiles.

This is nothing I have ever known about. Friends of mine who live in FL and breed and sell all three types of Star Tortoises have never mentioned needing a permit from the state to do so.

It might be worth a phone call to determine if Indian Stars are on the list of Class III species or not. If not, you could save yourself a lot of time and effort.

Also it seems as though this would be a very hard thing to catch and enforce if you didn't bother with the permit.

I did asked around and yes, everyone told me that it is easy to get, BTW u got a beautiful radiated tortoise on ur profile pic.

Since the permit comes from the state (or is it Feds?), you really should get first-hand info from them as Zovick suggested... re-read his whole post.

I would do that, personally. If your “intention” is to use that Vet if you have an issue, then that is the point of the question.
