Why my 5"-6" yellow belly slider is digging the sand under the water?? It started 2 days ago and I'm not sure if this is normal or not thanks in advance !!!!!

Bump. Not sure. Are the temps warm enough? Could it be trying to hibernate?

Does the turtles hibernate under the water?????? And the temperature is 77 right now

I believe it is foraging. Both my spotted turtles and diamondback terrapins exhibit this behaviour.

It is normal hunting behavior and yes some species spend dormancy under water.
