I have my red foot tortoise for 6 months now & he/she is very healthy as far as I can see, I don't know his/her exact age or sex & I suspect it's what is described as a yearling. I noticed as my tort has more than doubled it's size & weight since he/she came home & it frequently rubs his/her carapace against stones, metal objects & wood, the carapace has become rougher & sharper to the touch then when it was younger & I hope it's not pyramiding because my tort get outdoor sunlight 3-4 days per week for at least one hour each session calcium with D3 supplement & cuttlefish bones to bite on. Is the rubbing to remove parasites or something torts just does?
