I recieved a one month old hatchling from a breeder a few days ago. I have been soaking him daily and feeding him romaine lettuce and thin carrot slices that he can easily chew. This morning he pooped normally but a little while after that I picked him up and noticed this red, but partly clear bump under his tail. I immediately soaked him in some warm water. It was bigger before I took this picture to post and has shrunk down a little. I am new to tortoises and am very scared, did I do something wrong? Do I need to take him to the vet or is it something that will heal on its own? Should I change his diet to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated

I don't know. What are his temperatures in his enclosure, lights? I don't know what tortoise you have so I don't know if his diet is correct. @ZEROPILOT or @Tom

His enclosure is 80 degrees during the day and around 70 at night. He has a basking lamp and a uv lamp. He is a Russian tortoise and has been eating romaine lettuce and thinly shredded carrots. The first day I had him, I caught him trying to eat the moss off of the hut that I bought him(I believe it was the galapagos brand and it was real moss) and quickly returned it for a different hut. I placed him in some warm water and he immediately made a giant, semi solid poop. I have a feeling this happened because of the moss. Attached are some more recent pictures of it. It keeps changing in size and color, getting smaller and less red when he is in the water.

Hopefully an expert will help. What is his substrate?

I bought this repti bark brand because I read that they needed something to dig in. I attached another picture from the side to get a clearer angle. The good news is that he's behaving like normal, walking around a lot, basking and eating occasionally, so I don't think it's bothering him very much. I've put him in a smaller container with paper towels until I figure out for sure what the issue is.

Keep it clean and keep soaking him in shallow warm water. The substrate is fine. Don't let the water get cold. Hopefully an expert will be able to help soon. I think it could be a prolapse, so soaking is needed. I am NOT an expert

Thank you so much for all of your help. I will continue soaking him and monitor any changes and hopefully an expert can send me some more advice. Do you know how long is too long to have him soaking in water?

Give him at least 30 minutes. Just keep the water warm. I do think your temperature is too low. Is it a covered enclosure?

Yes, it is covered with a mesh screen. Here are pictures of the enclosure and the wattage of the bulbs I have

You need an expert. Search for the Russian care sheet on the forum, and read it.please. I don't know how to attach it to the post. Keep the tortoise warm and the "prolapse" wet until and expert gets to you. @Yvonne G

Update: Winston is back in warm water and has pooped AGAIN- this is the second one that has looked like this. He pooped twice this morning but they looked completely normal. I have a feeling the issue is that he ate some moss or ate something too large that he couldn't chew properly. Is this a good sign that he is letting it all out?
